The Medical-Surgical Nursing Department is one of the four departments contributing to undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Nursing. The department's vision is based on the fact that nursing is the art, science, and discipline of caring for people through the promotion and rehabilitation of health and its integrity throughout the stages of life, and it’s consistent with the mission and vision of the college.
The department is committed to providing a safe and high-quality learning environment by teaching courses that help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to deliver a safe, competent, and person-centered care for adults with acute and chronic health conditions in various healthcare settings, including medical-surgical, critical, and emergency care. 
The department faculty members have a variety of teaching experiences and research interests, including cardio, respiratory, cancer, geriatric, involvement in family care, health behavior, patient and nurse education, quality in healthcare, and other areas.
The department currently includes (45) faculty members, and (2) female specialists 
Faculty members consists of (1) professor, (3) associate professor, (13) assistant professor, (9) lecturers, (20) teaching assistants, and (2) female specialists.

The nursing profession is of great interest to my pioneers and educators in the educational and health sectors in the Kingdom. Most of these interests are focused on the development of professions scientifically and practically by supporting higher education and vocational training in academic organizations and health institutions. During the recent period, the nursing profession has entered the midst of major changes focused on the development of the academic sector to improve the outcomes of education through several radical decisions, the most important of which is the decision to transform all health colleges of the Ministry of Health to become a nursing education official under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education, which constitutes a major accountability for Saudi universities in the graduation of nursing practitioners and through these changes, which constituted a turning point not to facilitate the nursing profession highlights the importance of unifying the efforts of workers in the Saudi universities in the graduation of nursing practitioners, which constituted a turning point not to facilitate the nursing profession. Nursing in the academic field and trying to arrange priorities at this critical stage. The role of the Faculty of Nursing is a key role in the development of the profession as it is one of the health colleges of King Saud University, which is currently seeking through its strategic plans to be the leading university in education, research and community service. Therefore, this proposal gives an administrative and academic vision of the status of the Faculty of Nursing and the role expected of it at this critical stage, in which King Saud University enjoys academic research that contributes to the development of education in general and the improvement of outputs in certain disciplines. The Agency of the Faculty of Nursing for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research performs many tasks and looks forward to upgrading graduate studies and scientific research within the Faculty of Nursing and finding appropriate graduate programs by following up on the requirements of the labor market in various nursing specialties. The master's program in nursing began with its different paths in 1407 as the first postgraduate program in the Kingdom. Since then, hundreds of female students have joined the program to serve in the kingdom's various health sectors. The master's program has recently been opened for students to find an opportunity to complete their postgraduate studies. The agency has also taken on the process of developing scientific research by creating a suitable research environment for faculty members and graduate students and encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunities available by the Deanship of Scientific Research and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology represented in the Program of the National Plan for Science and Technology. The agency has lately established a specialized research center in the college to be consistent with the university's objectives in transforming scientific research into a knowledge economy that is in line with the guidance of our rational state.

College vice-deanship for female Students Affairs.   It is the body directly related to the students and it fully supervises everything related to the affairs of the female students during their university studies and the administrative affairs of all the faculty members. The Vice Deanship for Female Student Affairs is the agency responsible for supervising the educational, academic, research, administrative and financial process, and responsible for organizing the work in the college at the female student departments and managing its affairs as required by the interests of work in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Education Council. The Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs is linked to the Dean of the College, and the Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs is a member of the College Council.

The duties of the Vice Deanship include supervising the implementation of the college's strategic plan with regard to female students. Managing the college’s educational, research, administrative, financial and cultural affairs with regard to female students. As well as working on developing the work in the female student departments administratively and academically, coordinating and developing the college’s relations inside and outside the university with regard to female students. The Vice Deanship is concerned with supervising the provision of all the college’s educational, research, administrative and financial requirements and supervising the performance of the academic departments while preserving the college’s immovable and movable property and working to improve the mentality image of the college and the implementation and follow-up of the decisions of the college council.

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs (VDAA) assists the college in achieving the goals of the nursing programs, and is concerned with all matters related to academic affairs. The VDAA creates a professional work environment, which enhances culture of teamwork. It also supports creativity, innovations, and initiatives that will improve the performance of the college. The VDAA focuses on attaining a full national accreditation upon fulfilment of academic standards, specifically those related to learning and teaching. Obtaining a national accreditation award is the primary goal of the College of Nursing. The VDAA works in coordination with the heads of departments and college committees to achieve this goal. Curriculum development in nursing education is currently one of the VDAA’s priorities. Achieving excellence in learning and teaching and improving academic advising enable students to receive education based on the International Standard Classification of Education.  With great effort, the VDAA focuses on achieving the ultimate goals of King Saud University. These goals are aimed at promoting lifelong learning opportunities for the society, with unprecedented support from his excellency, the university president, and in accordance with the directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Allah bless him, in the development of education.

Education and health sector officials view the nursing profession as an essential career path to choose in today’s society. Their main focus is to develop the profession and implement evidence-based practice in nursing, with support from higher education and vocational training in academic organizations and health institutions. During the past, the nursing profession has been involved in major changes related to the professional development process aimed at enhancing nursing program outcomes. One of the important changes is that all “Colleges of Health Sciences” was transferred to the Ministry of Higher Education. Thus, Saudi universities have a major responsibility in improving the quality of nursing education and graduate nurses. Although these changes have been marked as a turning point for the nursing profession, teamwork and collaboration between all members of the nursing profession are imperative at this critical stage. The College of Nursing plays a key role in developing the profession as it is one of the health colleges of King Saud University. The college has currently developed strategic plans, which contribute to education, research, and community services. The proposed changes provide an academic status as well as the roles expected of the college at this critical stage. King Saud University calls for academic freedom, which contributes to enhance education in general and improve program outcomes in specific disciplines. Nursing is a profession that begins with teaching students the theoretical and clinical knowledge in universities, which are essential for providing safe and high-quality patient care in hospitals and other healthcare settings.

Dr. Latifa bint Abd al-Rahman al-Mater

Nursing Administration and Education Department is one of the departments of the College of Nursing at King Saud University. It focuses on preparing distinguished graduates in the fields of nursing administration and education with the application of nursing research that based on evidence - based practice. The department’s role is to provide the graduate with basic and applied skills in nursing management and education at both levels (bachelor and postgraduate studies). Graduates are expected to participate effectively in nursing leadership to provide the best quality of care for the Saudi society.
Given the importance of nursing management and education in supporting health services in the Kingdom, we seek in the department to create an appropriate educational environment for students through an active and effective education that aligns in its outputs with national and international quality standards. We in the department are always keen to keep pace with the changes in the market, and work to develop programs that keep up with the requirements of the status quo, future changes, and achieve the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. Also, we care about the faculty members of the department by creating a fair and effective work environment, constantly paying attention to their development to keep pace with the market needs, staying up to date with all innovations in the field of nursing, and encouraging them to actively participate in national and international nursing research.

Naji Alqahtani, PhD, RN

Nursing Administration and Education Department was established with the issuance of the Royal Decree to transform the Nursing Department in the College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Saud University into an independent college, pursuant to Royal Decree No. 7/B/1551 dated 8/1/1425 AH. This department is one of the four departments included in the college. The department extends its goals and philosophy from the college and university goals and philosophy. The department, in partnership with the other departments, teaches undergraduate courses in Nursing Sciences. It also teaches management and nursing education for a master's degree in nursing science since the college was a department of the College of Applied Medical Sciences. The department also participates in teaching doctoral courses in nursing in partnership with all the departments in the college. The Department includes highly qualified and experienced nursing faculty members who graduated from highly ranked international universities.
