Department Head Message
The Department of Surgical Internal Nursing is considered the backbone and backbone of the nursing specialties in the college. The department includes about 45 faculty members, teaching assistants, and specialists. Modern concepts of nursing and clinical scientific skills to prepare a distinguished student who has the motivation towards continuous learning and is qualified to provide comprehensive nursing care for various specialties of internal surgical nursing for patients and healthy adults in different hospitals and health centers and to provide multiple and growing educational experiences in various nursing specialties through postgraduate programs in line with the requirements of The labor market while conducting advanced scientific research in addition to providing technical and training consultations to various community institutions at the local level to ensure sustainable development in Saudi society.

Department Head Message
The Department of Maternal and Child Nursing is one of the four specialized academic departments in the College of Nursing. Students of the department are trained on various skills of critical thinking, research method, problem solving method through interactive teaching in theoretical lectures and clinical training, as well as health education for children, women and families. The department provides male and female students with courses related to women’s and children’s health in the bachelor’s degree and in the master’s degree for female students in three specializations, including maternity care, pediatric nursing, midwifery, and for students in pediatric nursing. The department is considered one of the distinguished academic departments in the College of Nursing in the field of research, education and community service, and we seek, in turn, to achieve the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the College of Nursing and the University alike.

About the department
The Maternal and Child Health Nursing Department is one of the four departments in the College of Nursing at King Saud University, which was established in 1425/1424 AH. The vision and mission of the department are derived from those of the College of Nursing. Since the nursing profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is based on a rich history and since women and children represent the majority of the population, the Maternal and Child Health Nursing Department is keen to provide the health sector with the required nursing specializations in
Maternal nursing, pediatric nursing and midwifery. Therefore, the department participate in teaching Maternity and pediatric courses for bachelor's degree to prepare the student to work
as a nurse specialist. In addition, the department provides the Bachelor graduates with the opportunity for continuous educational development by offering three major Master degrees "Maternity Nursing, Midwifery and Pediatric Nursing" to prepare the nurse and midwife to fulfill their roles in education and administration and clinical practice within the health care system.
Moreover, the department carefully selects training locations for the department’s various courses and according to the educational objectives of the curricula, which include gynecology, obstetrics, outpatient clinics, and pediatric, intensive care and emergency.
Over the past years, the faculty members of the department have published a great number of research in the fields of general nursing, and in the field of maternity, midwifery and pediatrics in particular. The department's faculties participated in providing advisory services to the King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consultation, reviewing a wide range of diplomas, bachelor and masters programs in nursing for various institutions and colleges in the Kingdom, and participating in the development of questions for the Saudi Nursing License Exam. Also, The faculty members and students of the department work on presenting and giving lectures to raise community awareness in the field of maternal and child health.
About the department
The Medical-Surgical Nursing Department is one of the four departments contributing to undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Nursing. The department's vision is based on the fact that nursing is the art, science, and discipline of caring for people through the promotion and rehabilitation of health and its integrity throughout the stages of life, and it’s consistent with the mission and vision of the college.
The department is committed to providing a safe and high-quality learning environment by teaching courses that help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to deliver a safe, competent, and person-centered care for adults with acute and chronic health conditions in various healthcare settings, including medical-surgical, critical, and emergency care.
The department faculty members have a variety of teaching experiences and research interests, including cardio, respiratory, cancer, geriatric, involvement in family care, health behavior, patient and nurse education, quality in healthcare, and other areas.

Faculty members consists of (1) professor, (3) associate professor, (13) assistant professor, (9) lecturers, (20) teaching assistants, and (2) female specialists.

The nursing profession is of great interest to my pioneers and educators in the educational and health sectors in the Kingdom. Most of these interests are focused on the development of professions scientifically and practically by supporting higher education and vocational training in academic organizations and health institutions. During the recent period, the nursing profession has entered the midst of major changes focused on the development of the academic sector to improve the outcomes of education through several radical decisions, the most important of which is the decision to transform all health colleges of the Ministry of Health to become a nursing education official under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education, which constitutes a major accountability for Saudi universities in the graduation of nursing practitioners and through these changes, which constituted a turning point not to facilitate the nursing profession highlights the importance of unifying the efforts of workers in the Saudi universities in the graduation of nursing practitioners, which constituted a turning point not to facilitate the nursing profession. The Agency of the Faculty of Nursing for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research performs many tasks and looks forward to upgrading graduate studies and scientific research within the Faculty of Nursing and finding appropriate graduate programs by following up on the requirements of the labor market in various nursing specialties. The master's program in nursing began with its different paths in 1407 as the first postgraduate program in the Kingdom. Since then, hundreds of female students have joined the program to serve in the kingdom's various health sectors. The master's program has recently been opened for students to find an opportunity to complete their postgraduate studies. The agency has also taken on the process of developing scientific research by creating a suitable research environment for faculty members and graduate students and encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunities available by the Deanship of Scientific Research and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology represented in the Program of the National Plan for Science and Technology. The agency has lately established a specialized research center in the college to be consistent with the university's objectives in transforming scientific research into a knowledge economy that is in line with the guidance of our rational state.

The agency has also taken on the process of developing scientific research at the college by creating a suitable research environment for faculty members and graduate students, and encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunities available by the Deanship of Scientific Research and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology represented in the Program of the National Plan for Science and Technology. Recently, the agency established a specialized research center at the college to match the university's objectives in transforming scientific research into a knowledge economy that is in line with the directions of our rational state.
