Dean's Message

I am delighted to welcome you to the College of Nursing website at King Saud University. We believe we may have useful health and educational related information for visitors to our site. The College of Nursing was established in 1977 to be a loop within the system of health colleges in Saudi Arabia, as a tributary of national qualified nursing staff. The staff is capable of dealing with various health-related conditions, in an efficient and effective way at all three levels of health care systems (preventive, curative, and rehabilitation) in response to the requirements of the Saudi community and labor market. Furthermore, our aim is to keep them abreast of changes in scientific developments at the local, regional, and global levels.

The College of Nursing has grown significantly since its inception in 1976 as a department affiliated to the College of Applied Medical Sciences and it awarded a bachelor's degree (BSN) in nursing. The College trend continued and moved forward at a fast and constant pace through its ambition and plans, designed to improve the quality of the educational outcomes. The quadrate program was launched in 1988 with a program leading to a degree of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). The MSN program of study is designed to build upon the general preparation of the first professionally qualified baccalaureate degree holders to feed the Saudi labor market with highly qualified leaders in nursing, capable to manage, treat and make the appropriate decision when dealing with severe as well as chronic medical cases through a proper scientific analysis, critical thinking, and evidence- based practices. The specialty tracks offered are Nursing Administration and Education, Adult Health Nursing, Psychiatry and Community Health Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing. The college seeks to improve the scientific level of its academic curricula and research in response to the requirements for obtaining accreditation and global excellence in line with the vision, mission, and philosophy of KSU.

We appreciate the continued support from the University Administration, which fulfills all the requirements and provides all required supplies in a unique scientific manner. I, respect and feel honored for the extreme care, attention, and generous support from the precious leadership of our beloved university, due to which the Department of Nursing was transformed into a Nursing College, to live up with its curricula and tracks, to stay at the cutting edge in preparing top - class professional nurses who will become leaders, contributing to the advancement of health care and the profession itself. It is my pleasure to inform you that the quality of education has been witnessing a rapid transformation in this profession, represented by the accelerated numbers of students. We anticipate in the near future the establishment of new programs in nursing. All these successes were achieved because of the support we gained from the wisdom and leadership of this country, the government, and the university administration. The challenges in healthcare continue to grow and the need for an educated nursing workforce is greater than ever if nursing is a future or current passion of yours. I invite you to explore our website and learn about our college and program “… we continue to remain committed to educating excellent clinical nurses, nurse educators, nurse researchers, and nurse leaders of tomorrow”.
